M-IDEAL STRUCTURE IN UNIFORM ALGEBRAS

It is proved that if A is aregular uniform algebra on a compact Hausdorff space X in which every closed ideal is an M-ideal, then A = C(X).

Ideal Structure of Clifford Algebras

The structures of the ideals of Clifford algebras which can be both infinite dimensional and degenerate over the real numbers are investigated.

Ideal Structure of Graph Algebras

We classify the gauge-invariant ideals in the C∗-algebras of infinite directed graphs, and describe the quotients as graph algebras. We then use these results to identify the gauge-invariant primitive ideals in terms of the structural properties of the graph, and describe the K-theory of the C∗-algebras of arbitrary infinite graphs.

On the Ideal Structure of Banach Algebras

For Banach algebras A in a class which includes all group and function algebras, we show that the family of ideals of A with the same hull is typically quite large, containing ascending and descending chains of arbitrary length through any ideal in the family, and that typically a closed ideal of A whose hull meets the Silov boundary of A cannot be countably generated algebraically. Guided by t...

Group invariants in algebras of generalized functions

We study invariance properties of Colombeau generalized functions under actions of smooth Lie transformation groups. Several characterization results analogous to the smooth setting are derived and applications to generalized rotational invariance are given.
